Hanover, Germany – ContiTech has announced that it sees “considerable growth potential” from a drive to increase connectivity in the industrial sector.

In a 28 Feb statement, the German company said digitalisation was a major opportunity for ContiTech to work with customers to “generate added value”.

“Because we are part of the overall value chain, we can establish the conditions this requires as a supplier and industry partner,” said the Hanover-based rubber and plastics technology arm of Continental.

To this end, the company is developing intelligently connected systems, machinery and equipment.

The company, said Hans-Jürgen Duensing head of ContiTech, has been working to make its products and systems smarter and “offer end-to-end solutions.”

Among some of the company’s latest products is Conti MultiProtect predictive maintenance system which is a digitally connected monitoring system for steel cord conveyor belts.

“The monitoring system Conti MultiProtect helps to detect damage such as longitudinal slitting or splice faults on the conveyor belt at an early stage during operation and repair the damage in good time," explained ContiTech application engineer Patrick Raffler.

This, he added, helps avoid extended downtimes.

The company is planning to showcase its technologies during the Hanover trade show in April.
