Trelleborg acquires large solid tire distributor

London – Trelleborg has finalised the acquisition of UK-based distributor of solid off-the-road (OTR) tires, International Tyre and Wheel Solutions Ltd.

Purchased through its Trelleborg Wheel Systems business, Trelleborg said that ITWS specialises in tires for the waste, recycling and demolition industries.

The acquisition, said the Swedish company, complements the recent acquisition of Mitas pneumatic construction tires and gives Trelleborg “a clear and broad offering in both pneumatic and solid tires across Europe, Middle East and Africa.”

Based in Lowton, the UK, ITWS had sales of nearly SEK40 million (€4.2 million) in 2015.

“With an attractive distribution network and customer base, the acquisition gives us the opportunity to expand our offering of construction tires in Europe,” said Maurizio Vischi, president of the Trelleborg Wheel Systems business area.

It will also improve Trelleborg’s position as a supplier of solid OTR tires in the Middle East and Africa, he added.

The transaction will be consolidated as of 1 September.

Trelleborg did not provide details of the agreement terms and conditions or purchase price.
