Brussels - Chinese tire-manufacturing machinery and technology company Mesnac has led a workgroup meeting in Brussels to help establish international standards for RFID tire tags.
The event, on 11-14 July, focused on four proposed standards: RFID tire tags; Embedding methods for RFID tire tags; Testing methods for RFID tire tags; and Coding for RFID tire tags.
Initiated by China and mainly drafted by Mesnac, the international standards were officially filed for application in June 2015, the company said.
A workgroup, labelled ISO/TC31/WG10, was established on 6 Oct, led by convener Dong Lanfei from Mesnac, with Pierre Loiret from Michelin serving as co-convener.
The kick-off meeting of ISO/TC31/WG10 in Brussels attracted 24 experts from China, France, Germany, Italy, the UK and US to discuss the draft standards.
The event was supported by China's National Technical Committee 19 on Tyres and Rims of Standardization Administration (SAC_TC19), the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization (ETRTO) and Association Française de Normalization (AFNOR).
A second meeting of the workgroup is planned for December. Workgroup participants will, meanwhile, continue to review the proposed standards with the aim of taking them to a committee draft stage.
