Hanover, Germany – At the 66th International Motor Show Commercial Vehicles, 22-29 Sept in Hanover, Continental will present new head-up digital (HUD) displays for truck and bus applications.
The new displays are designed to enable drivers to get driving information without having to take their eyes off the traffic.
Continental supplies two basic versions of the HUD to vehicle manufacturers. The windshield HUD is specially developed for the commercial vehicles in the US, which have flatter windshields.
The alternative ‘combine’r HUD uses a transparent disc in front of the windshield to reflect the image. This version is suitable for vehicles commonly used in Europe, for example, which have steeply angled windshields.
This is “an important element of future human-machine dialog for greater safety in commercial vehicles, in which the driver receives advance information about driving maneuvers planned by the vehicle during automated driving," said Dr. Michael Ruf, head of the Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket business unit at Continental.
