Osaka, Japan – Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. has announced that it has voluntarily joined in the Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative (SNR-i) - an International Rubber Study Group initiative to ensure the sustainability of natural rubber as a resource.
Launched in May 2014, the IRSG scheme establishes guidelines covering “the entire spectrum of the natural rubber supply chain”.
The five guidelines revolve around: improvement of productivity; better natural rubber quality; forest sustainability; water management; and human & labour rights
“As a tire manufacturer that uses natural rubber, Toyo Tires voluntarily declares its support of the above objectives and participation in the initiative,” the Japanese group announced.
Bridgestone, Goodyear, Michelin and Nokian Tyres have also subscribed to the SNR-i programme.
