Waltrop, Germany – Russian carbon black manufacturer Omsk Carbon has appointed Tomasz Celka as the managing director of its European HQ in Waltrop, Germany, the company announced 25 April.
Celka has been working in the chemicals sector for over 15 years and was previously responsible for the development of Omsk Carbon Group in eastern Europe.
He will focus on implementing the Omsk Carbon Europe development strategy and coordinate sales and distribution in the European market, said the statement.
“There are many challenges ahead, but we are ready to continue our work,” said Celka.
The new boss added that Omsk Carbon Europe has been “successful” in Europe and that the company was “ready to develop work in new areas.”
“At present, Omsk Carbon Europe is working closely with pigments and inks manufacturers to introduce new special grades into the European market,” said Celka.
Promoting speciality grades in the company’s priority markets will be one of the key tasks for Omsk Carbon Europe in 2016 and 2017, he added.
Omsk Carbon Group also stated that the completion of its new 200 kilotonnes per annum carbon black plant in Mogilev, Belarus was on track.
The company expects to commission the €95-million plant this summer.
Omsk Carbon is developing its international network of representative offices and developing special grades of carbon black.
The company expects to open its first US distribution facility in Bishopville, South Carolina very soon.
Celka succeeded Rainer Jung, who left Omsk Carbon Europe GmbH on 1 April.
