Wuxi, China – Bridgestone’s 2.3 million unit/year radial tire expansion project at its plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu passed environmental inspection in February, according to the company’s website.
Bridgestone has pumped $98 million (€89 million) investment into the project. New facilities started trialing last October and brought the Wuxi plant’s total capacity to 7.8 million unit/year; employee headcount at the plant was increased to 1,850.
Wuxi has become a major Bridgestone location in China, housing manufacturing facilities, a training facility and two research centres.
The company also has three other China manufacturing sites in Shenyang, Tianjini and Huizhou.
