Francesco Gori, strategy advisor, Apollo Tires, will be among the high-ranking tire industry officials speaking at the Future Tire Conference 2016, 24-25 May in Essen, Germany.
Gori who has recently joined Apollo, will study Apollo's investment strategy and the Asian tire sector's expansion in Europe on Day 1 of the conference.
After holding several executive positions in Italy and abroad, he was appointed general manager of the Tyre Division in 2001, managing director of Pirelli Tyre in 2006 and, in addition, general manager of the holding company Pirelli & C in 2009.
During his tenure, Pirelli Tyre grew from a lower than average profitability versus its peers to a leading and most profitable position thanks to the execution of a premium strategy which allowed a higher top and bottom line growth than its peers.
From 2006 to 2011, Gori was president of the newly constituted European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers' Association, ETRMA, for two consecutive mandates.
In 2012 he left Pirelli to pursue his own initiatives.
From 2013, Gori has entered the board of Snam Spa, a large utility company listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, as an independent director and been appointed chairman of the control and risk committee.
From 2013 till 2015 he was industrial advisor of Malacalza Investimenti, second largest Pirelli shareholder until the delisting from the stock exchange, and from 2014 he has been industrial advisor of Idea Capital Funds Sgr, the private equity arm of De Agostini Group.
From the end of 2015 he has been appointed as member of the management board and advisor for strategies of Apollo Tyre.
He is also board member of the Italian branch of Plan International, one of the oldest and largest children's development NGOs in the world.
