Stockholm – Naphthenic oil manufacturer Nynas is reinforcing its tire oil team, with the addition of former Nokian executive Mika Lahtinen as senior technical advisor with a focus on the rubber and tire industry.
Lahtinen, who most recently served as head of tire material research & development at Nokian Tyres, is expected to help enhance Nynas’ position among global rubber and tire manufacturers.
In his work in charge of research and development at Nokian Tyres, Lahtinen focused in particular on two areas: better traction in different conditions, especially on ice and snow, and reduced rolling resistance.
According to Lahtinen, Nynas was an important business partner for Nokian in tackling problems surrounding not only viscosity, but also rolling resistance and fuel economy.
“It’s my hope that, in my new role, I’ll be able to support Nynas’ customers in the rubber and tire industry by offering knowledge of how tire materials can be further developed in a sustainable way,” said Lahtinen.
Lahtinen holds a PhD in materials & polymer chemistry.
“Lahtinen will enable Nynas to further improve its offering for the rubber and tire industry,” said Nynas technology and marketing director Valentina Serra-Holm.
This recruitment, he said, strengthened the company’s position to become the “best long-term partner” for producers of polymers, rubber and tires.
