Dawn moves DVA tire material towards commercial scale

Longkou, China – Dawn Polymer Materials is preparing to scale up its dynamic vulcanised alloy (DVA) tire inner-liner material during the second half of 2026 following trials with tire manufacturers.

In a 14 investors Q&A, the Chinese materials supplier said it had completed multiple rounds of small-batch calendering, laminating and tire-building trials, achieving “full compatibility with existing tire-building process routes”.

Road testing had also met all durability requirements, marking the point at which DVA “fully possesses the technical conditions for industrialisation,” Dawn said.

The company has now scheduled “scaled deployment” alongside an unnamed partner tire manufacturer during the second half of the year.

According to the company, the material is claimed to offer 'seven to 10 times' the air impermeability of conventional butyl rubber, while allowing inner-liner thickness to be halved and weight reduced by 60%.

The company also reported a “significant” improvement in rolling resistance of tires using the material.

With the new technology, Dawn said it was the “second company globally and the only company domestically” to achieve mass production of DVA material.

Linglong Tire disclosed in July that its jointly developed DVA material with Dawn had entered small-batch production, following cooperation between the companies dating back to 2020.
