Mount Pleasant, Iowa—The ContiTech business unit of Continental A.G. plans to spend $7.2 million (€6.6 million) at its Mount Pleasant factory to add capacity for industrial hose.
The company said the project is in response for increasing demand for the products in the NAFTA region.
“We have plans to add 30,000 square feet to our plant, and that includes an additional production line that will increase our total floor area and our capacity by 20 percent,” Plant Manager Rick Anderson said in a statement. “We anticipate that the expansion will enable us to add about 12 to 14 workers.”
The plant mainly makes industrial hose but also produces hoses for the transportation industry, according to the company. Current employment is slightly more than 200.
Anderson said construction will begin late in the first quarter and be finished by the end of 2016.
