Automotive supplier progressing INR500–550m Gujarat investment as it moves into complete tire production
Ahmedabad, India – India’s Viaz Tyres is targeting trial production by around November or December at its new 1.5 million-unit/year tire plant in Gujarat as it forays into full tire production.
The Indian tire tube maker broke ground on the Mehsana facility in December last year, announcing investment of INR500–550 million (€4.5–5 million) to produce two- and three-wheeler, light-commercial-vehicle and agricultural tires.
The company originally said the facility was expected to become operational during the first quarter of its 2027 financial year, subject to approvals and commissioning.
In its May earnings call, however, CFO Rajesh Patel said Viaz had revised that schedule and was now targeting trial runs in November–December 2026, with the majority of the resulting revenue expected in the following financial year.
“We are revising that to November-December that by then we will start with trial run,” Patel told investors.
Patel, however, cautioned that global uncertainty could result in a further two-to-three-month delay.
The company said the project represents its move from its established butyl-tube operations into complete tire manufacturing.
Its original filing put planned annual production capacity at 1.5 million tires, spanning two-wheelers, three-wheelers, LCVs and agricultural and farm equipment.
The project includes plant infrastructure, automation systems and environmental-compliance investment.
Managing director Janak Patel said the company expects the tire operation to generate about INR1.25–1.50 billion in revenue, alongside continued growth in its tube business.
Viaz is also planning a second phase of expansion by 2029 involving LCV and agricultural tires, as it targets overall group revenue of around INR3.5 billion by 2029.
The company reported FY26 revenue from operations of INR1.083 billion, up 89.2% year-on-year.
Viaz said it plans to focus initially on tire sizes in the two- and three-wheeler segments where it said relatively few Indian manufacturers currently operate, while leveraging its existing export presence in those markets.
Established in 2018 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Viaz produces in butyl rubber tubes and specialised tire products and describes itself as “one of India’s fastest growing automotive component manufacturers”.
