Ahmedabad, India – Indian tire maker MRF is set to build a greenfield tire manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India, according to reports in the Indian press.
Citing government officials, the report said that the search for a location was on-going.
The company is expected to invest around Rs 4,000 crore (€557 million) for the plant, with the initial production capacity of one million tires per month.
However, the company could not be contacted for its comment.
MRF has already started a Rs 4,500-crore expansion of its three tire plants in Tamil Nadu.
Indian tire-makers Apollo and CEAT already have plants in Gujarat, with Taiwanese Maxxis also planning to set up a plant in the province.
Gujarat is a centre for car manufacture in India.
