Trelleborg tackles subsea challeges
On display are its T-Strake vortex induced vibration (VIV) system as well as subsea flow control developments, including Trelleborg’s entire line of Vikotherm insulation materials.
“In increasingly rougher seas, pipelines unsupported over free spans are prone to VIV fatigue. This is a growing concern as VIV can lead to serious issues such as pipe girth weld failure or premature pipe malfunction,” said key account manager within Trelleborg Offshore, Iain Green.
“We designed our T-Strake flowline protection to suppress the effects of these vibrations on pipes to avoid damage and downtime,” he added.
According to the company, T-Strake features a "unique" modular design enabling more efficient transportation and installation. (Read more)
KM, Teknor Apex to present TPV tech at NPE
The mouldings will be made from compounds based on thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) from Teknor Apex. The Sarlink TPVs can replace thermoset rubber – EPDM and polyisoprene – for the sealing side of the application due to processing flexibility.
At the Orlando plastics industry show, KM will over-mould the TPV gaskets on a CXW 300-1000/750 SpinForm unit with linear robot LRX-S150. (Read more)
Ferm RFID develops new-tech tags
As displayed by the partners during Tire Technology Expo in Cologne, the product features a fabric label containing an RFID antenna and chip. It is designed to survive the harsh environments encountered during storage.
The label, added Eichenwald, can read from up to nine metres away and does not require a line-of-sight, making it also possible to do mass-readings during storage, covering warehouse solutions and support the complete supplier chain; in this case for tires. (Read more)
Mesnac, Bosch Rexroth in "drive and control" partnership
Mesnac president Zheng Jiangjia and Ren Yixing, CSO of Rexroth (China) signed the protocol on behalf of each party on 4 Feb, according to a Mesnac press release.
