Budapest - Increased demand from the oil & gas industry has prompted ContiTech to increase high-pressure hose capacity at its Hungarian plant by about 50 percent.
The expansion of the Szeged-based ContiTech Rubber Industrial Ltd unit includes a new production hall and facilities for manufacturing semi-finished products, a company spokesman said.
The production hall will produce high-pressure hoses mainly for oil drilling, such as rotary, vibrator, cementing, choke and kill, as well as flexible lines for offshore oil production.
The range includes recently developed products with 1380 bar (20 000 psi) working pressure, or 5” ID 690 bar (10 000 psi) rotary hose, which are above the pressure range of the relevant American Petroleum Institute standard API Spec. 7K 5thEd. (2010).
ContiTech Rubber Industrial is the only company with an API licence for all three standards relevant for high-pressure oil hoses, API Spec. 7K, 16C and 17K, ContiTech said in a statement about the expansion to ERJ.
As well as high-pressure hose, ContiTech Rubber Industrial also manufactures low-pressure hose, and textile-reinforced conveyor belts.
