Land deal signals Michelin expansion plan

Waterville, Nova Scotia - Michelin has signalled a planned expansion in Canada with the acquisition of around 50 acres of land in Waterville to, adjacent to its truck tire plant there.
The municipality of the County of Kings, Nova Scotia, approved the sale to Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. , the company announced 23 Sept.
Michelin Canada agreed to pay $1.89 million for the land – which is part of the Waterville Municipal Airport --- which Michelin is considering for an expansion of its plant, according to the County of Kings Council.
The Kings County local government is to close/relocate the airport by Sept 2015, with the sale to be official as of Oct. 1, 2015, the council saying: The Municipality continues to support the goals of Michelin expansion and airport relocation,” the council said.
