ITRC wants more dialogue with China
ERJ staff report (TP)
Chiangmai, Thailand – The 23rd International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) in Thailand discussed the need for more cooperation with China.
The meeting was held in Chiangmai from 2-3 July and among the matters talked about was the development between ITRC and China on rubber cooperation and carbon credit for natural rubber.
The ITRC said it will initiate a dialogue with relevant ministries/agencies in China – such as on the life cycle analysis of rubber planting.
The meeting also looked at its progress on the ITRC working visit to Vietnam. The involvement of other rubber producing countries in ASEAN, in particular Vietnam, could further strengthen regional efforts in addressing rubber prices.
ITRC countries will raise this proposal with their respective national focal points for the ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (AEM), ASEAN Ministers Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAFF) and Foreign Ministries on the participation of other NR (natural rubber) producing countries in ASEAN for regular dialogues with the ITRC.
