Faridabad, India – Bohra Rubber Pvt. Ltd, part of the diverse Bohra Group, and Hiroshima Kasei Ltd (HKL) of Fukuyama, Japan have entered into technical collaboration for the manufacture of automotive cabin sealing systems, the companies have announced.
Under the agreement, HKL will support Bohra Rubber in design, development and execution of dynamic sealing solutions for the automotive industry. The Japanese company is to work with the Indian partner to target OEMs in the market.
HKL has been a preferred supplier of automotive cabin sealing systems for Japanese car manufacturers such as Mitsubushi Car, Daihatsu, Nissan with components manufactured also being used in Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha and other automotive companies. From the Indian markets prospective, HKL specialises in supplying products for small cars, noted Bohra Rubber.
The deal adds to HKL’s presence in South Korea, the US, China, Thailand and Indonesia and further expands the Fukuyama-based company’s global footprint, said Tomohiro Tamaru, director of HKL’s industrial materials division.
“This alliance allows us to bring our state of the art patented technologies like APS to the demanding India customer,” commented Tamaru. “Bohra Rubber has extensive presence in the Indian OEMs, and has required infrastructure and culture to be able to serve the ever demanding OEMs and we are excited to work with and grow alongside them with Indian OEM customers".
Indian customers have a distinct preference for Japanese automotive manufacturers, according to Shailendra Bohra, director, marketing & international trade of Bohra Rubber Pvt. Ltd.
“We would use our relationship Hiroshima Kasei to jointly target the Japanese OEM active in India. At present we are targeting business with Honda, Nissan, Maruti, VECV and the likes and initial response has been encouraging for us,” said Bohra.
The Bohra executive added that the company plans to set up secondary facility to be closer to customers, In the near future. The Indian manufacturer has its main plant in Faridabad and warehouses in Chennai and Dharwad.
