ERJ staff report (PR)
Leicestershire, UK - Kumho Tyre (UK) Ltd’s newly established direct sales organisation is now fully operational, the company said 6 June. This follows on from its recent announcement of a new three-year contract with Micheldever Tyre Services.
The new facility at Magna Park near Lutterworth, Leicestershire provides an office base for the company’s expanded sales and marketing division as well as a warehouse for the company’s range of car, 4x4, van, truck and motorsport tires.
Sited close to the motorway network, the Magna Park centre is to serve as a national distribution hub for the company. The warehousing and logistics functions are being handled by supply chain specialist DHL under a contract signed at the end of last year.
With the direct operation Kumho aims to build a complementary network of independent retailers, operating on a common platform with the existing Kumho ECSTA performance centre programme. The unit will also explore new market channels to enhance the availability of Kumho-brand products throughout the UK.
Re-establishing Kumho’s presence in the UK truck tire market with its line-up of quality products will be one of its key objectives, said a company statement. The new operation, it noted, is supported by an enlarged sales and marketing team, comprising office-based staff and a seven-strong sales force including both car and truck specialists.
KTUK’s managing director Kie Myung Choe said the company “judged that the time was right to show our further commitment to the market by investing in a direct sales facility to complement the … network we have built with Micheldever Tyre Services.”
