Apollo issues statement on new European site
ERJ staff report (PR)
London – Apollo Tyres "is yet to finalise" on the exact location for its planned new tire manufacturing facility in Europe, according to a statement issued 3 June by the company.
The group's announcement follows media reports in Slovakia indicating that the country had lost out to Hungary in the bidding process to host the new facility.
The Apollo board recently approved a project to invest up to €500 million in a new greenfield tire manufacturing site in eastern Europe. The planned capacity is expected to be 16,000 passenger car tires and 3,000 truck bus tires per day.
At last week's Reifen trade show in Essen, Germany senior Apollo officials said the plant would be sited either in Slovakia or Hungary, and that the decision would be made soon.
