Ruma, Serbia – President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman, accompanied by Bojan Pajtic, president of Serbia's Vojvodina province, visited Czech tiremaker Mitas’s industrial and agricultural tire factory at Ruma on 2 April, balkans.com reported from a Radio Serbia source.
The plant manufactures over 16,200 tonnes of tires annually and employs around 550 people. Zeman voiced his pleasure at this headcount, noting that Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic had informed him that the unemployment rate in Serbia stands at 26 per cent.
Pajtic stressed that the MItas factory in Ruma is “the crown of good relations between Serbia, that is, Vojvodina and the Czech Republic.” He noted that in 2008, when Mitas took over the Ruma factory, the province provided subsidies for 200 employees as well as other necessary conditions to expand the production.
The works has increased production by 30 per cent over the past three years, said Pajtic.
