ERJ staff report (BC)
Leverkusen, Germany – After concluding its research on carbon nanotubes (CNT) and graphenes, Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) is disposing of intellectual property in the field to FutureCarbon GmbH, based in Bayreuth, Germany. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
BMS researchers have conducted “substantial” R&D work in the field of carbon nanotubes in collaboration with external partners in recent years, including complex issues relating to safe production and scale-up methods. “Next generation” catalysts and new product grades were also developed.
Much of the knowledge gleaned was made available to other companies and research institutions within the Innovation Alliance for Carbon Nanotubes (Inno.CNT), of which BMS is one among around 90 members.
