Melksham, UK – Cooper Tire Europe and the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) announced on 24 March the introduction of a new Cooper Cup Class for drivers competing with a pre-2008 F3 chassis who enter into the 2014 Cooper Tires Formula 3 Championship.
Designed to attract new teams and drivers to the championship, the Cooper Cup Class offers reduced entry fees of £7000 plus VAT [20 percent] (TOTAL €10,033) for a season entry, with prizes including sets of tires throughout the year to the class points leader.
The leading class driver after the Silverstone and Brands Hatch rounds will be awarded one set of Cooper tires, while the class leader after Spa-Francorchamps will receive two sets.
The end-of-season Cooper Cup Class winner will receive a reduced entry fee when moving up to National or Championship class in 2015.
Marketing Communications Manager for Cooper Tire Europe, Sarah McRoberts, said: “Motorsport is a core part of what we do at Cooper and we understand the challenges facing new drivers and teams. We’d therefore like to do what we can to support them and the British Formula 3 Series and this Cooper Cup Class allows us to make a difference.”
British F3 Championship Coordinator, Benjamin Franassovici, said: “The Cooper Cup Class offers a low-cost and rewarding entry to Formula 3 racing in the UK, running as part of the British Formula 3 Championship. We have a seven-round calendar for this season, with four sets of tires and a reduced entry fee for 2015 as incentives.”
The opening round of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Series will be held at Rockingham in Corby 4-5 May.
