    ERJ staff report (TP)

Birmingham, UK – Bridgestone’s stand at the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show will have the theme “Total Tyre Care – more than tyres”, reported Steve Hobson for Commercial Motor.

The range of services on show, at the NEC Birmingham 29 April to 1 May, will be built around three pillars – “Total Tyre Life, Total Tyre Services and Total Tyre Systems” – and will include Bridgestone’s tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), breakdown services, tire management and Bandag retreads.

Bridgestone’s TPMS is a simple retrofit system using intelligent valve caps that transmit pressure and temperature readings to sensors as the vehicle drives past a gate post or to a handheld reader. One major user – Arla – has seen a dramatic reduction in tire wear and fuel consumption as a result.

The tires on display will be the company’s new range of 295/80 regional steer tires designed for the heavier axle loads associated with Euro-6 trucks. Bridgestone said that while there may be a trend towards 315/70 tires for Euro-6 so far the mileage of these smaller tires has not matched that achieved by conventional ones.

It will also present a new upgraded 385/65 trailer tire, fuel efficient 315/70 steer and drive tires, and a range of LCV tires and Bandag retreads.

To promote the new tires and entertain visitors, the firm’s stand will have a golf simulator where the longest drive each day will win a set of drive tires.
