Apollo Tyres unveils Apterra H/P
ERJ staff report (TP)
Geneva, Switzerland – Apollo introduced its Apterra H/P, a high performance on-road summer tire made especially for SUVs, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, reported MoneyControl.
The tires will be available globally and are developed at the Global PV R&D Centre of Apollo Tyres in the Netherlands.
They will be available in H and V speed indexes and the large shoulder blocks, which when combined with the continuous centre rib, give high speed stability and accurate handling.
The safety aspect is taken care of by the multi-polymer compound thread which protects the tire even at high speeds. Heavy load rating is provided by endowing the tire with a strong carcass.
Wet weather performance is claimed to be up to the mark because of Apollo’s Advanced Sipe Technology which disperses water from the rubber giving “excellent” resistance to aquaplaning. The position of the threads also “adds to refinement by considerably reducing tire noise”.
From April, the Apterra name will be put on the entire Apollo range of SUV and 4X4 tires. The other products are Apterra A/T and Apterra H/T. The A/T range is for all-terrain driving and H/T is specially engineered for highway driving.
