ERJ staff report (TP)
Findlay, Ohio − Cooper Tire & Rubber Company announced on 21 January that its new CS3 Touring tire has earned a 2013 GOOD DESIGN Award from the Chicago Anthenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Cooper was one of 700 recipients of the award selected from several thousands of entries from more than 48 countries.
The GOOD DESIGN Award is one of the world's “most prestigious” and longest-standing design award programs recognising new consumer products designed and manufactured in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America. The award is based on criteria including the level of innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function and quality as well as product appearance and aesthetic appeal.
Cooper said its CS3 Touring tire is an all season tire featuring the new STABILEDGE technology, which is designed to enhance dry handling stability, crisper steering response and improve overall ride comfort. Its 3D Micro-Gauge siping improves handling and control in all seasons. With a newly developed five-rib tread pattern, the CS3 Touring delivers improved wet and light snow traction, a smooth, quiet ride and even-wearing, long-lasting tread life. Additionally, the CS3 is one of the lightest tires in its class, which translates to increased fuel efficiency.
“Receiving the acclaimed 2013 GOOD DESIGN Award for our new CS3 Touring tire is further third-party validation that the work Cooper has been doing to create innovative, quality products that perform is being recognised,” said Scott Jamieson, Cooper Director of Product Marketing.
“Cooper is committed to connecting consumers to life’s road trips and the CS3 meets the needs of families by creating a safe, reliable, fuel-efficient and affordable tire that is also innovative and stylish.”
