    ERJ staff report (TP)

Tokyo − Bridgestone announced last week the launch of four new motorcycle tires for 2014.

The new products are Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO; Battlax Racing R10 EVO – with a new construction and compound; Battlax Racing V02 – with latest MotoGP technology; and Battlecross X30 and X40 – with advanced motocross tread technology for medium and hard terrains.

Battlax Hypersport S20 was the Motorrad test winner in 2012 and 2013 and engineers have worked on the construction and compound, to extend rear tire wear life and improve handling and cornering grip at high camber angles. It will initially be available in one front size and four rear sizes in ZR range, from March 2014.

The upgrade of Battlax Racing R10 provides faster lap times by improving front tire cornering speed and adding traction grip and consistency to the rear.

Racing Battlax V02 has increased grip combined with performance consistency to give lap times which are over one second faster than the current V01 racing tire.

“Drawing on Bridgestone’s latest MotoGP technology, the new Racing Battlax V02 makes high performance and fast lap times available to everyone,” said Jose-Enrique Gonzalez, Director, Marketing, Bridgestone Europe.

Bridgestone has also moved to strengthen its position in the motocross (MX) tire market with the launch of Battlecross X30 for medium terrain and Battlecross X40 for hard terrain.

Since 2005 Bridgestone has finished on the podium 46 times across all categories of the most prestigious championship final rankings: the FIM Motocross World Championship, the AMA Pro MX Championship and the JMX Championship.

Battlecross X30 will be available in Europe in two front sizes and four rear sizes from April 2014. Battlecross X40 will be offered in one front size and three rear sizes from May 2014.
