    ERJ staff report (TP)

Cary, Illinois – Durex Industries, a North American designer and manufacturer of heaters, temperature sensors, controls and systems, recently announced development of their Elastic Wrap Heater technology, according to their press release.

Elastic Wrap Heaters are used in applications that require heating for freeze protection or to prevent condensation. Based on silicone rubber heater technology, lengths of the heater are coiled similar to a telephone cord. The elasticity of the cord facilitates easy wrapping of the heater around pipes, tubes and fittings. The moulded end protector snaps around a pipe to provide structural support for the lead wires.

Customers have applied the Elastic Wrap Heaters in applications such as water treatment and semiconductor processing on plumbing systems ranging from 0.25 in (6.35 mm) to 4.0 in (10.16 mm) in diameter.

Durex Industries is based in Cary, Illinois and was founded in 1980. According to its website the company “serves the Analytical Instrumentation, Medical Device, Semiconductor, Photovoltaic, Foodservice, Plastics, Packaging, Process, and general industrial markets”.
