Continental donating $200 000 for Philippine typhoon relief
ERJ staff report (BC)
Hanover, Germany – Continental is donating $200 000 (€148 000) to help the Philippines get back on its feet after Typhoon Haiyan.
"Fortunately, our own plants were not hit by the typhoon … The people in the devastated areas are, however, desperately in need of our help," said Continental CEO Elmar Degenhart. "Together with colleagues on site, we have selected Welthungerhilfe (World Hunger Help) as [the] recipient organisation."
Continental employs around 1,600 at its Manila and Calamba locations. Affected employees are being given time off work, and money earmarked for Christmas celebrations at Continental plants will instead be used for disaster relief, the company said.
