Yokohama to build marine products plant in Indonesia
ERJ staff report (BC)
Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. will build a new plant for manufacturing pneumatic marine fenders and marine hoses in Batam Island, Indonesia.
The 3 billion yen plant for material mixing, moulding and vulcanisation will begin operating in June 2015, augmenting Yokohama’s Japanese production by 50 percent.
Pneumatic marine fenders and hoses are used mainly in the handling and transferring of crude oil at sea, and the company expects demand to increase with an expansion of the oil industry.
Batam Island, around 20km from from Singapore, houses the largest hub port in Asia, says Yokohama.
