BASF rolls out paper coating binders to northern Europe
ERJ staff report (BC)
Ludwigshafen, Germany – Chemicals major BASF has extended production of its "cost-efficient" binders (CEBs) based on styrene butadiene and styrene-acrylics to its Hamina, Finland. The Hamina supply will serve the northern European and Russian markets.
The binders have been supplied primarily to customers in Central Europe from BASF's site in Ludwigshafen, Germany since 2012. BASF can now supply the whole European paper industry, the company says.
Andreas Tuerk, BASF senior vice president for paper chemicals in Europe, said: “Following the huge success of our cost-efficient binders in central Europe, we continue to invest in this product line to expand the success story all over Europe. With this, we provide paper manufacturers [with] an additional interesting solution to further reduce their costs.”
