ERJ staff report (BC)
Maisons-Alfort, France – Pump and valve manufacturer KSB has joined the French Bioproof project, an initiative to secure the supply of high-quality technical rubbers to industry using plants or other recycled material as feedstocks.
Bioproof activities include laboratory and field testing of the new materials for ecological compatibility and economic efficiency.
The project started in April 2013 and is planned to run for five years. Apart from KSB, the participants are EFJM, EMAC, Geffica, Hutchinson, ITC Élastomères, Michelin, Sacred and Wattelez.
KSB produces 420 000 elastomer liners for its butterfly valves at the company’s La Roche-Chalais factory, using 200-220 tonnes of synthetic rubber in about 40 different formulations.
