Manchester demolition firm KDC to clear old carbon black works
ERJ staff report (BC)
Manchester, UK – A £1.4m (€1.65m) contract will see demolition specialist KDC completing site demolition, remediation and decontamination at the former Sevalco carbon black manufacturing plant in Avonmouth, near Bristol, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Manchester-based KDC worked with plant owner Viridor’s environmental consultants, SLR Consulting, to clinch the deal.
KDC will remove hazardous products and materials, including asbestos, heavy fuel oil, tanks, carbon black, plant equipment, redundant plant structures and foundations at the site.
The 40-week project will involve a team of 25 KDC staff, working at the ecologically sensitive 10-hectare site near the Bristol Channel coast. This will be regenerated to become a new waste-to-energy plant.
