Indian Rubber Board to focus on boosting skills
ERJ staff report (BC)
Mumbai, India – The Indian Rubber Board and the newly established Rubber Skill Development Centre (RSDC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on skill development and training quality standards for natural rubber (NR) plantations, reports the Business Standard.
RSDC chairman Vinod Simon is quoted as having said: "As many as one million planters are involved in NR plantations in the country. Despite high productivity, much production potential remains untapped due to the inadequate availability of skilled manpower. The Rubber Board wanted RSDC to undertake skill development for the plantation subsector, similar to what is being done for the rubber manufacturing sector."
