Asian butadiene price sinks 18 percent on month in April on weak demand
ERJ staff report (BC)
Singapore – The average price of Asian butadiene sank 18 percent month on month in April to $1 431 (€ 1 086) per tonne FOB Korea, reports Clement Choo of Platts.
This is due to weak demand from China and an oversupply of synthetic rubber, Platts data showed.
The monthly average was down a sharp 58 percent from $3 092 (€ 2 347) per tonne in April 2012.
A buildup of synthetic rubber stocks in China due to poor demand from tire makers is reported to have weighed on prices.
