Zeon launches IR rubber emulsion series
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Tokyo – Zeon Corp. says it has succeeded in applying polyisoprene emulsion to a line of commercial products and has begun marketing these products as the Nipol ME series.
The Japanese company uses its Nipol IR as a raw material for the ME series of products, which include highly-pliant, tight-fitting items that require tensile strength and tear strength equivalent to natural rubber. Zeon added that the series is expected to provide an alternative line of materials for surgical gloves and medical devices, especially as the material does not contain the proteins found in natural rubber latex and therefore helps avoid Type I allergic reactions.
