Mitsui launches silicone-based polymer surface modifier
ERJ staff report (BC)
Tokyo – Mitsui Chemicals is test-marketing Exfola, a polyolefin modifier which makes surfaces silicone-rich when added at small doses.
Benefits cited include enhanced release properties, water repellency, oil repellency and abrasion resistance, without the disadvantages of conventional silicone-based modifiers such as contamination and transfer caused by bleed-out, degradation over time and poor formability.
