Indian tire dealers group appeal against cartelisation finding
ERJ staff report (LMH)
New Delhi, India – The All India Tyre Dealers’ Federation is appealing against the decision taken by Indian fair trade regulator CCI to clear five Indian tire companies of cartelisation, according to Times of India.
ERJ reported in November 2012 that the Competition Commission of India ruled that there was no substantive evidence of a cartel between five manufacturers, including Apollo Tyres, MRF, JK Tyre, Ceat and Birla Tyres.
AITDF has approached the Competition Appellate Tribunal to appeal, and a hearing has been fixed for 20 March, Times of India said.
The tire makers, which control 95 percent of the market, were accused by AITDF of collusive pricing, tax avoidance and trade malpractice.
