UK company launches tire recycling tool
ERJ staff report (LMH)
London - A UK-based recycling technologies company has developed a high-speed flat-packing system, aimed at simplifying the recycling of scrap tires.
Symphony Recycling Technologies Ltd says its new SymTyre S300 semi-automatic tire cutter reduces a tire completely in 60 seconds, making it impossible to use again except for recycling or as a feedstock for waste-to-energy or waste-to-value recovery.
The tool allows garages to flatpack scrap tires on site instead of having to remove them en masse. Symphony says this helps reduce the cost and logistics inefficiencies of transporting whole tires. It also has the potential to cut down on scrap tire mountains, the company adds.
