Penalty points will highlight illegal tyre dangers - ITIA

Dublin - The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) says drivers should receive penalty points for having illegal tires on their cars, reports Eddie Cunningham in the Irish Independent.
ITIA is concerned about the condition of tires on many car and believe penalty points would highlight the dangers of driving with bald tires.
The article notes that there has been a 26 percent increase in tire-related failures in the year from September 2011 to 2012.
