Lanxess splits technical rubber products business

Leverkusen, Germany - With effect from 1 January, Lanxess's Technical Rubber Products business unit (TRP) was divided into two separate units.
Keltan Elastomers, whose core product is ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) is now trading independently. The rest of the TRP product portfolio (NBR, HNBR, EVM and CR) comes under a new High Performance Elastomers (HPE) business unit.
TRP expanded its EPDM business by acquiring Keltan from DSM in May 2011. Former TRP head Guenther Weymans said “The successful strategic development of EPDM to make us a global market leader and the specific features of all TRP businesses necessitate this split into two business units.â€
