New all-season tire from Michelin
ERJ staff report (BC)
New Orleans - Michelin North America has unveiled the latest in its Pilot family of tires, the Pilot Sport A/S 3.
The company attributes “breakthrough levels of dry grip†to its Variable Contact Patch 2.0 configuration combined with an “aggressive†asymmetric tread pattern.
Strong wet grip and resistance to hydroplaning regardless of road surface are claimed on the basis of a high silica content in the tread compound, variable-thickness sipes and large circumferential grooves.
Cold weather performance is attributed to Michelin's Helio Compound (including sunflower oil), the variable-thickness sipes again, and biting edges in the tread grooves.
