More gutta-percha washed up on French beaches
ERJ staff report (DS)
Ploudalmezeau, Brittany -- Another correspondent has discovered blocks of gutta-percha carrying the brand name Tjipetir. The new discovery is on a beach on the north coast of France, close to previous discoveries.
ERJ concludes that a ship carrying the material was wrecked many years ago in the Western approaches to the English channel (La Manche) and the wreck is now crumbling, releasing its cargo, which is now being washed up on the coastlines of north-western Europe.
