Conti Canada taps new managing director

Fort Mill, South Carolina - Continental Tire the Americas llc (CTA) has appointed Meletis Xigakis managing director of Continental Tire Canada to succeed Oliver Winschiers, who has been named plant operations manager for Continental AG's plant in Camaçari, Brazil. The moves are effective 1 Oct.
Xigakis has worked since 2002 in Continental's passenger and light truck tyre and OE business units in Hannover, Germany. Most recently, he was responsible for the BMW AG and Porsche AG global OE accounts as well as the OE passenger and light truck business in South Africa.
“Meletis brings a strong technical background as well as a great deal of sales experience to our Canadian business,†said CTA CEO Jochen Etzel. “I am excited to have him on our Americas' team and am looking forward to working with him to continue to grow our tire business in Canada.â€
Winschiers was managing director of Conti Canada since July 2009, Prior to that he was director of corporate purchasing for Conti's automotive and rubber groups in the Americas. He has been with Continental since 2007 when Conti bought Siemens VDO Automotive.
