Jama reports car sales up 53 percent in first half

Tokyo - Japanese Automobile production for the period January 2012 - June 2012 was recorded as 5,248,004 units. Compared with the 3,430,034 units total recorded for the previous year, this is an increase of 1,817,970 units or 53.0 percent.
Automobile production in June 2012 was recorded as 893,149 units. Compared with the 742,531 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 150,618 units or 20.3, and the ninth consecutive month-on-month production increase.
Automobile exports for the first half were recorded as 2,487,975 units. Compared with the 1,840,164units total recorded for the previous year, this is an increase of 647,811 units or 35.2%, and export increase after last year's downturn.
Automobile export in June 2012 was recorded as 431,020 units. Compared with the 402,042 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 28,978 units or 7.2 percent, and export increase on the same month of the previous year for six consecutive months.
Motorcycle production for the first half was recorded as 317,974 units. Compared with the 302,595 units total recorded for the previous year, this is an increase of 15,379 units or 5.1%.
Motorcycle production in June 2012 was recorded as 41,984 units. Compared with the 55,322 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 13,338 units or 24.1 percent, and production decrease on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.
Motorcycle export for the first half of calendar year 2012 was recorded as 258,674 units. Compared with the 246,737 units total recorded for the previous year, this is an increase of 11,937 units or 4.percent, and export increase after four years of downturn.
Motorcycle export in June 2012 was recorded as 35,306 units. Compared with the 40,821 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 5,515 units or 13.5 percent, and export decrease on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.
