Yokohama Rubber marine hose meets new international standard
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd has started production and will start shipment of marine hose products in compliance with the Oil Companies International Marine Forum's new international standard, GMPHOM2009.
Yokohama said compliance with the standard will boost sales of its Seaflex hoses. Marine hoses are widely used for single buoy mooring systems or Floating Production Storage and Offloading systems (FPSO), as they are "indispensible" for handling crude oil, Yokohama said in a 24 July news release.
GMPHOM2009 requires higher durability and reliability by introducing demanding test methods such as 25 000-time dynamic fatigue test. Yokohama said it improved the design and materials of the marine hose by using technology it has developed over years of experience. Yokohama will supply the hoses for new projects in Latin America, Asia, Middle-East and other regions with GMPHOM 2009 certified hoses.
