Toyo to launch fuel-efficient flagship tyre in Japan
ERJ staff report (TB)
Tokyo -- Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. is launching its “NanoEnergy Zero†low rolling-resistance passenger tyre line in Japan, claiming the product has earned the highest fuel-efficiency and wet grip grades under Japan's new tyre labeling system,
Toyo also said it plans to launch two NanoEnergy products in Europe in October.
Toyo describes the NanoEnergy line as its fuel-efficient tyre brand, based on proprietary foundational material design technology, which manages the development of the tyre's rubber materials at the nano-level.
The NanoEnergy Zero will launch in early July in one size only, 195/65R15 91H, Toyo said. It follows the launch in February of the NanoEnergy 1 and NanoEnergy 2 in June. Toyo said the former product was the first tyre to achieve “AAA†rolling resistance and “b†wet grip performance in Japan, and the latter achieved “AAA†rolling resistance and “c†wet grip performance.
Japan's tyre labeling system was devised the Japan Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association.
Toyo claims it was able to achieve “AAA†and “a†wet grip ratings by applying “Nano Balance Technology,†which optimises the management of materials mixing to a high dimension, allowing for higher precision in design and incorporating innovations in processing.
Toyo did not say how the tyre will be priced.
