Goodyear claims car tyre can carry A-A rating
ERJ staff report (DS)
Birmingham, UK - Goodyear claims that its latest concept tyre performs well enough to achieve A-ratings in the EU labelling scheme in both wet grip and rolling resistance.
In a press release, Goodyear said, “EfficientGrip AA Edition will primarily be used as a base for further R&D development of high label grade tyres to be introduced in the near future, as well as a demonstration tyre at events.†The company did not say how the tyre performs in terms of wear.
The concept tyre was built using proprietary technology developed by Goodyear at its Innovation Centre in Luxembourg. This included the development of new compound technology, an improved tread structure and even an adapted manufacturing technique. Details of the technology remain confidential.
The Goodyear EfficientGrip AA Edition will be on display at Reifen, Europe's leading Tyre Trade Show, in Essen, Germany, from June 5th to June 8th, and will also be showcased in different European countries through driving opportunities and other events.
