Michelin tops JDPower's OE tyre satisfaction study
ERJ staff report (DS)
Westlake Village, California - Michelin has come out top in three out of four categories in J D Power's 2012 US Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study. Pirelli came top in the one remaining category: the performance-sport segment with an index score of 788 on a 1000-point scale. Michelin ranked highest in the three segments titled: luxury (777), passenger car (726) and truck/utility (740).
JDPower said vehicle-buyers' impression of the OE tyres influences their vehicle-purchasing decisions and also their choice about where to service their vehicle.
"It is important for tyre and vehicle manufacturers to understand how tyre satisfaction affects both vehicle brand and dealer loyalty," said Brent Gruber, senior manager of the tyre practice at J.D. Power and Associates. "High tyre satisfaction positively influences owner perceptions of their vehicle. By choosing a better performing tyre for its vehicles, not only are manufacturers in a position to build greater loyalty for their brand, but they're also increasing the potential for future service business at dealerships."
