Wacker expands in South Korea

Seoul - Munich-based chemicals group has successfully completed the expansion and relocation of its technical laboratories and offices in South Korea.
The 3600-sq.m upgraded technical centre, with integrated training facility, is located in Pangyo Techno Valley in a suburb of the South Korean capital, Seoul. The regional competence centre now houses under a single roof both research & development, applications technology, and a facility for basic and advanced training in silicones and polymers applications.
The integrated Wacker Academy training facility will additionally offer an ideal platform for market -specific networking among customers, distribution partners and Wacker specialists. The Korea technical centre will help to ensure an optimum supply of high-quality silicone and polymer products for the fast-growing markets in the region, Wacker said in a 2 March news release.
“The Korea technical centre, with its research and testing laboratories that are unique in the region, is another important milestone in our growth strategy for Asia and particularly South Korea,†commented Dr. Wilhelm Sittenthaler, board member responsible for Asia at Wacker.
Wacker makes silicone fluids, silanes, rubber and resins, as well as chemicals for polymers for the construction, adhesives and textiles industries.
